Iran has proposed that Armenia establish a mechanism for exchanging views on TRIPP, which would help address existing concerns, Iranian Ambassador to Armenia Khalil Shirgholami said during a discussion titled “Reflections on TRIPP.”

“Iran has conveyed its concerns to Armenia regarding the project, taking into account Trump’s hostile policy toward the Iranian people. Nevertheless, the issue can be resolved, given the atmosphere of friendship and good-neighborly relations between Yerevan and Tehran.

The mechanisms of the project have not yet been fully developed, and these mechanisms are no less important than the process of implementing TRIPP itself. The project must in no way infringe upon Armenia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.

Tehran has firmly opposed the so-called ‘Zangezur Corridor,’ understanding that it would weaken Armenia’s sovereignty. Iran continues to state that Armenia’s territorial integrity and sovereignty are a red line for Tehran,” he noted.
